Mastercard on Thursday announced the winners of its Mastercard Excellence Awards 2022 at an award ceremony in Dhaka, recognizing Bangladesh’s top performing partner banks, financial institutions, fin-techs, and merchants across various categories, said a press release. The theme for the fourth edition of the awards – Towards a Smart Transformation – was aimed at bringing together leaders from across the financial industry to reiterate support for the government’s ‘Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041’.
The award ceremony was attended by commerce minister Tipu Munshi as the chief guest. Bangladesh Bank executive director Md Khurshid Alam attended the program as the guest of honor. MasterCard South Asia chief operating officer Vikas Varma, country manager Syed Mohammad Kamal along with senior officials and dignitaries from partner banks, fintechs, and merchant partners were also present.
Vikas Varma said, ‘Mastercard is committed to facilitating more payment and commerce options by harnessing the power of technology in collaboration with partners. Today, Mastercard is pleased to recognize local businesses for developing and supporting innovative and compelling digital payment solutions that are fueling inclusive growth.’
In the last 31 years of operations, Mastercard has partnered with leading financial and commercial institutions including AB Bank, Bank Asia, Al-Arafah Islami Bank Ltd, BRAC Bank, Dhaka Bank Limited, Dutch Bangla Bank, Eastern Bank Limited, Islami Bank Limited, LankaBangla Finance, Mutual Trust Bank Limited, National Bank Limited, NCC Bank Limited, Premier Bank, Prime Bank, Pubali Bank, Social Islami Bank Limited, Southeast Bank Ltd, Standard Chartered Bank, The City Bank, United Commercial Bank and IFIC Bank Limited, the release added.
