Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Golam Murshed has urged the youths to love themselves, live with dreams and perform their responsibilities sincerely to get success in life.
“Love yourself and learn how to live with your dreams and perform your responsibilities … Go ahead with self-confidence to materialize your dreams and only then you will be able to shine in life,” Murshed said speaking at a workshop titled ‘Walton Presents Rise Above All’ held at Krishibid Institution in Dhaka on Friday (March 18, 2022).
Don Sumdany Facilitation & Consultancy organized the workshop with the aim of skill enhancement for youths and building prosperous career for them. Senior officials from the government, media and corporate sectors spoke at the event and shared their stories of successes, failures and overcoming failures in front of nearly 2,000 participants.
State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid, Vice-chancellor of Asian University of Women Rubana Huq, Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman, Akij Ventures Limited CEO Syed Alamgir, Oracle’s Country Director Rubaba Dowla, RTV CEO Syed Ashik Rahman, Noize Jeans and LoveGen’s co-founder Manish Chauhan, actor Siam Ahmed, founder of 10 Minute School Ayman Sadiq and content creators Iftekhar Rafsan and Raba Khan were guest speakers of the event. Ghulam Sumdany Don, the Chief Inspiration Officer of Don Sumdany Facilitation & Consultancy moderated the event.
Speaking in the ‘Vote of Thanks’ session, Golam Murshed said: We have the responsibility of branding our country. We cannot ignore this responsibility as we were born here. This responsibility towards the country should be fulfilled sincerely. It’s like a relay race. Our forefathers have fulfilled their responsibilities and left them to us. Now it’s our turn to perform the responsibilities and pass them to next generation.
“Positive results will come out only when the enthusiasm of youths is blended with the experience of elders in the industry. A combination of aged people and young generation is needed to succeed in any endeavor. I’m not against young people but sometimes you have to speak against your own side and that is democracy. The ego among the youths must be left aside. They should stick to their dreams and not be disappointed. We have to move forward at any rate,” Golam Murshed advised the youths.
He said: If a person’s life expectancy is 70 years, then the age of his dreams is 65 years. People start dreaming from childhood. When people grow up, they dream differently. The form of dreams changes over time. But the dream remains. So, everyone should learn to live with their dreams.
Mentioning that ‘comfort zone’ does not allow people to move forward, Golam Murshed said: The average professional career of a person is 30 years. The desire for work, aspiration, energy is fully present among people during this time. In these 30 years, our responsibility is to get the job done rightly and that’s why you shouldn’t stop. If you feel ‘I’m pretty good now’, it will make you obsolete and dead. These thoughts will bar you from moving forward. ‘Comfort zone’ should always be avoided in career. Responsibilities will keep you alive and active. Advising young generation, Ghulam Murshed further said: Don’t copy others but be yourself. You can enrich yourself by listening to someone, but don’t follow them blindly. Because every human being is different and unique. Everyone has their own special qualities. This power will move you forward. Perform your responsibilities with full attention and dedication,
