DIU Former registrar passes away

Former Registrar and Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department of Daffodil International University (DIU) and Former President of Bangladesh Electronics Society Prof. Dr. Engr. A. K. M. Fazlul Hoque passed away on January 21 at 9.55am, due to a cardiac attack at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Dhaka, press release said Sunday.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, and a number of grandsons and granddaughters, along with a host of relatives and well-wishers who mourn his death. Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S M Mahbubul Haque Mazumder, Treasurer Mr. Hamidul Haque Khan, members of the Board of Trustees, the management, faculty members, employees, and students of DIU express deep condolences.

Prof. Dr. Engr. A. K. M. Fazlul Hoque joined as Adjunct Professor in CSE Department of Faculty of Science and Information Technology on February 01, 2011 and took the responsibility of Registrar on November 01, 2013.

Before joining DIU, he served as Director, Atomic Energy Centre, Dhaka (AECD) and as Head of Accelerator Facilities Division of AECD. He had thirty-three years of research experience in Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC). He served as `Philips Research Fellow’ in the department of Applied Physics and Electronics of Dhaka University. He has been regularly supervising Ph. D, M. Phil, and M. Sc theses.  He obtained M Sc in Applied Physics and Electronics from Dhaka University in 1976 and Ph. D in Physics (Nuclear Technology) from Jahangirnagor University in 2002.

Prof. Hoque has more than twelve years of experience of organizing national and international training courses, conferences, symposiums, workshops, etc. He has a total of 54 (fifty-four) research papers in his credit. He has been working as a Member of Asian Committee for Future Accelerator (ACFA) since 2004. He was born in 1953 at the village Patira of Fulbaria Upazila under Mymensingh district.
