Zoom and Destiny in jail

There is no doubt that the owner of Destiny, who was making a Zoom call from his hospital bed, is very offended. He has had to go back to jail from his hospital bed where he was languishing for the last two months no one is sure what his serious ailment is though.  One of the richest men around and also one who has ripped off many, it’s only fair that he should consider himself special.

He had done nothing terribly bad compared to the many things that happen in jail.  People even have their GFs visiting them in comfortable privacy. Some of them got caught too and one fears that some people may not like the Destiny group members. If that is true then it’s not the right thing to do. Discrimination is always bad.  The Destiny guy should be returned back to the hospital and his badly disturbed Zoom meeting should be allowed to be continued.

We also hear that several of the police who were posted there have been removed, closed and suspended for dereliction of duty pending investigation.  This is most not fair either. Hospital and jail police have been devotedly providing all the services needed by looking the other way, whenever their services have been needed.

They can’t be accused of dereliction of duty because this has been going on from time immemorial and the practice has been continuing for long. They are in many ways the upholder of traditions as all know.  Going inside doesn’t mean losing all the privileges but only a little more of organizing the same. And that has been possible because of such hardworking souls, who always look elsewhere when female visitors pay a call and zoom calls are on.

So what do we want?

If we want the current system to end, it means the entire jail code needs revisiting. One must accept that the system is very flexible and people with connections and money can get whatever they want up to a point. The guards and officials of various jails are beneficiaries of such a system and money is exchanged at a reasonably wide level to ensure such privileges. Just because a few rich people are inside doesn’t mean that they cease to be rich people so their needs can’t be expected to disappear. So they get as many benefits they can afford.

In fact many jail officials have been caught and some are even undergoing trials for doing favours so instead of feeling shocked , let’s accept the fact  that in Bangladesh, most rules which can’t be ignored can be very much bent and everyone can live happily while some make money on the side . Since so many see these privileges granted as a second income opportunity, the chances of  their diminishing let alone disappearing is rather  non-existent.

Poor Rafiq. Return him the zoom call if he is not making one already right now. He must have done what needed to be done but couldn’t finish his call.
