Renowned businessman and educationist Md Ali Azzam has been elected as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Eastern University, a press release said Saturday.
This election was held in the annual general meeting at its permanent campus in Ashulia, Dhaka, on Saturday. The outgoing chairman Dr. Shamsuddoha Khandkar presided over the meeting.
Earlier, Ali Azam served in various important positions including Treasurer of Eastern University Foundation, Chairman of Board Committee on Admission and Disciplinary Affairs of Eastern University.
Azam is the owner of Fatema Steel Corporation and the managing director of real estate firm Al Jamil Properties Limited. Apart from being a member of the Board of Trustees of Port City International University, he is involved in various educational and religious institutions and social organaizations.
