BRAC Bank Reading Café discusses Humayun Ahmed’s ‘Kobi’

BRAC Bank Reading Café held an engaging discussion on author Humayun Ahmed’s renowned novel, ‘Kobi,’ at the bank’s head office in Dhaka, a press release said on Tuesday. The event brought together avid readers and literary enthusiasts who expressed their admiration for Humayun Ahmed and his exceptional pool of work.

During the discussion on June 12, 2023, the participants unanimously opined that ‘Kobi’ is a captivating journey of self-discovery. Humayun Ahmed skillfully portrays the belief that no individual is as inherently wicked as they may initially appear. The characters in the novel, particularly Atahar and Sajjad, embark on a relentless exploration of finding their inner selves, leaving readers deeply intrigued.

While appreciating the depth of the characters, the discussants raised questions regarding the book’s title. They highlighted that although poetry plays a significant role in the narrative, their poetic abilities matter less to them than pursuing a meaningful life.

The attendees acknowledged Humayun Ahmed’s remarkable storytelling abilities, describing his works as page-turners. They commended his unique talent for captivating readers from the very first page, making it virtually impossible to put down his books once someone started reading them.
