Country’s 1st Astrophysics Center launched at DIU

The country’s first ‘Astrophysics Center’ was opened on November 28 under the supervision of Daffodil International University’s (DIU) Multimedia and Creative Technology (MCT) department. University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman inaugurated the center on November 28, 2023, a press release said on Thursday.

At the beginning of the program, the convener of this ‘Astrophysics Center’, Associate Professor Arif Ahmed, who is a pioneer animator and one of the country’s science inspired painters, highlighted the importance and purpose of the ‘Astrophysics Center’ in the country through a multimedia presentation.A powerful telescope brought from Delhi has been installed in this first astrophysics center in the country. Through which students can see stars, planets, galaxies in the night sky. Observing the vastness of the universe through a telescope is essential for everyone.

Professor Dr. Syed Akhtar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Information Technology, Director of International Affairs Professor Dr. Md Fokhray Hossain, Head of the department of Computer Science and Engineering Professor Dr. Sheikh Rashed HaiderNoori, Professor of Multimedia and Creative Technology Department Sheikh Md Allair, Adjunct Faculty and Ummad Editor Cartoonist Ahsan Habib and Convener and Assistant Professor of Astrophysics Center Animator Arif Ahmed were present at the opening ceremony.

On the occasion, science speaker Asif’s discussion project science’s ‘Mahavrat’ and Garpai Jhaprabahavarap signed a MoU with two institutions. The center is located on the 14th floor of Daffodil International University’s Knowledge Tower and has created a lot of enthusiasm among the students.
