The law department of Daffodil International University (DIU) has accorded grand reception to 87 advocates of the department who have passed the Bar Council examination this year.
The reception program was held on May 18 at the International Conference Hall of DIU campus at Birulia, Savar. Former Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique was present as the chief guest while K M Aminul Islam, Additional Registrar, Bangladesh Supreme Court was present as special guest at the reception program. Professor Dr. M Lutfr Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University presided over the program. The program was also addressed by Prof. Dr. Mostafa Kamal, Dean, Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Liza Sharmin, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Professor Dr. Kudrat E Khuda Babu, Head, Department of Law of Daffodil International University.
Speaking as the chief guest, Former Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique said, “There is no doubt that all of you who have passed will be good lawyers. Because this time the examination has been more complex than any other time. So, there is no doubt that all of you are talent.
He urged the newly enrolled advocates to enrich their knowledge through continuing habits of study and practice. He stressed that Lawyers must study and be updated throughout their lives. The more you read, the better you will be as a lawyer. He also said, as an advocate now it is the time to work in the practical field. Here you must be skilled in learning through practice. This requires a lot of patience, hard work and perseverance. He congratulated the advocates and wished that one day you would be the judge, chief justice and attorney general of the country. All you need is to set the goals and move on.
Praising Daffodil University, Former Chief Justice said, “I had no idea that there is such a beautiful campus in Bangladesh. I was fascinated by the beauty of the campus which may be compared with the campuses of developed universities abroad.
Professor Dr. M Lutfar Rahman said that the epidemic Corona has shown that there is no way but to rely on technology. The virtual court was on all the time during Corona pandemic. It has been possible with the help of technology. As a student at a digital university, the students at the university became habituated and proficient in technology from the very beginning, he added. He wished that those who have just become advocates will be better lawyers by using technology.
