Daffodil International University (DIU) Air Rover Scout Group recently held a Scouts’ Own and National Service Award 2021 Certificate Distribution Ceremony and Iftar Mahfil at the Daffodil Smart City in Birulia of Savar on Thursday.
The event was attended by a large number of Rovers from various units and regions, scout personnel including trainers, leaders, DIU Air Rovers (existing and former) and distinguished guests, reads a press release.
Manzoor Mohammad Shahriar, director of the National Directorate of Consumer Protection, was present as the chief guest at the programme whereas Dr Sharifa Sultana, associate professor and associate head of the Pharmacy Department was present as the special guest.
Prof Dr M Lutfar Rahman, vice chancellor of DIU and president of DIU Air Rover Scout Group, who presided over the programme, emphasised the crucial role that scouting plays in building character, developing successful leaders, and contributing to society.
He also commended the DIU Air Rover Scout Group for introducing the Rover Movement at the university and urged the students to be more active and participative in the movement. He also highlighted the importance of scouting in teaching Rovers how to lead a disciplined life and grow their leadership skills.
The VC encouraged the Rovers to abide by the rules of the Scout Motto, which will help them become complete human beings and inspire them to serve mankind.
