DIU Commemorates Golden Jubilee of Bangabandhu’s Julio Curie Peace Award

Daffodil International University (DIU) hosted a discussion program to mark the momentous occasion of the golden jubilee of Bangabandhu’s Julio Curie Peace Award Tuesday on May 23, 2023 at Professor Dr. Aminul Islam Auditorium, a press release said on Tuesday.

Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of DIU graced the occasion as the chief guest while Professor Dr. Md. Bellal Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS), presided over the program. The program was also addressed by Professor A. M.M. Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences (FHSS) and Hamidul Haque Khan, Director (F & A) of Daffodil International University. 

Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, the Vice Chancellor of DIU, expressed his appreciation for the thoughtful discussions and stressed the importance of continuing efforts of Bangabandhu to build a peaceful society. He emphasized the role of educational institutions in shaping responsible citizens who are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute to peace and harmony.

The golden jubilee celebration of Bangabandhu’s Julio Curie Peace Award at DIU served as a reminder of the remarkable legacy left by the esteemed leader, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. This award, named after the Nobel laureate Marie Curie, honors individuals and organizations that have made exemplary contributions to peacebuilding and conflict resolution.

The event witnessed a gathering of distinguished guests, faculty members, students, and other stakeholders who engaged in lively discussions on the role of education and academia in fostering peace, social cohesion, and sustainable development.
