The Bangladesh Olympiad in Informatics (BDOI) National Round 2024 ended today on April 27, at Daffodil International University (DIU) marking a significant event in the national academic calendar.
This prestigious competition took place on the 26th and 27th of April under the auspices of Bangladesh Informatics Olympiad Committee (BIOC) and hosted by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Daffodil International University (DIU) and the DIU Computer and Programming Club (DIU CPC), with generous support from Dutch Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL). BIOC is led by eminent writer Prof. Dr. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal (President, BIOC) and Prof. M. Kaykobad (Member, BIOC) along with other eminent scientists and educators as members.
The BdOI serves as a national platform for pre-university students to engage in intense problem-solving and algorithmic challenges, mirroring the structure and rigor of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) – the premier global contest in high school informatics. Participants in the BdOI are tasked with developing innovative solutions to complex problems, showcasing their abilities in algorithm design, data structure implementation, and the meticulous process of programming and testing their solutions.
This year’s event is graced by the presence of numerous dignitaries and experts in the field of computer science. Country’s Eminent Physicist, Educationalist of Bangladesh and Islamic Researcher and Former President of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences Prof. Dr. M Shamsher Ali was present as the chief guest at the closing and Award Giving Ceremony. The session is chaired by Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University. Other notable guests include Prof. M. Kaykobad (Member, BIOC).
