Professor Dr. M LutfarRahman, Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University (DIU) has been appointed as a part time member of Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC), press release said Thursday.
This appointment was given in a notification signed by Dr. ForhadHossain, Deputy Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Department (Private University Branch-1) of the Ministry of Education on January 09, 2024. He will serve in this position for the next two years. A total of four people, including researchers and professors from India and Abu Dhabi, have been appointed as part-time members of the BAC.
The other appointed part-time members are JagannathPatil, advisor and researcher of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, India, Dr. Mohammad Farasuddin, former Governor of Bangladesh Bank and member of Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh and Professor HabibulHaqueKhandkar, Social Science Department of Zayed University of Abu Dhabi.
It may be mentioned here that BAC is an autonomous government body responsible for accreditation and quality assurance of higher education institutions and entities offering academic programs. The Council was established under the ‘Bangladesh Accreditation Council Act, 2017’. Professor Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Former Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University is serving as the chairman of the council.
DIU congratulated Professor Dr. M. LutfarRahman for being appointed as a part-time member of the BAC on January 11. Dr. Mohammad Imran Hossain. Member, Board of Trustees of DIU handed over floral wreaths to Professor Dr. M. LutfarRahman on behalf of the university.
