Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has urged all not to pay heed to rumors on the closure of educational institutions amid this present Covid-19 situation.
She made the call while speaking at the ninth convocation of Daffodil International University at Ashulia in Savar on Sunday afternoon.
The Education Minister said, “Today we have a meeting with the National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19. Corona vaccination activities of students are going on in full swing. Efforts are being made to bring everyone under the vaccine and keep the educational institution open. However, it is also true that if it seems that the infection will increase if we keep educational institutions open, then we may consider it.
“We are trying to figure out how to keep the educational institution safe and prevent infection,” she said. “Those who are saying that closer of educational institutions will be closed, are spreading rumors. Such rumors are spread all the time. Don’t pay heed to rumors, said Dipu Moni.”
Expressing hope that the students would return to normal educational activities, the minister said, “If the educational institution has to be closed, we will close it with an announcement. But as long as we don’t feel the need, we won’t close. We want students to return to normal educational activities.”
She said the new universities could not stand during the epidemic. At that time, appointing VC, Pro-VC, Treasurer was another additional pressure. Although there must be a VC, the organization will not work. We are constantly begging to fill the gaps. Trying to finish this work quickly. However, I wish for more volunteerism from the universities in this regard.
Earlier in the convocation ceremony, the Education Minister said, education is dependent on the test certificate? If so, why are so many certified unemployed? Of course, this is not what we want. That’s why I’m trying to bring a change from absolutely pre-primary. Through which education will not depend only on exams and certificates.
