Iron Manganese removal water filter in honour of Bangabondhu

North South University Faculty Dr. Nadim Reza Khandaker and his research student Abu Khalid Khan both from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering spent their COV-2 Lockdown time building an Iron manganese removal water filter costing under TK 1000 using local supply chainwith locally available materials, said a press release.

Iron and Manganese in drinking water is an issue of concern in many resources challenged regions of the world.

This local innovation was field tested and showed to be highly effective. An appropriate solution for the masses in the spirit of our father of the nation in the hundredth anniversary of his birth.

The technology was based on enhanced anion adsorption and membrane filtration that was developed when Dr.Nadim Reza Khandaker worked at Sandia National Laboratory, Department of Energy, The Government of the United States of America as a research engineer.

While working at Sandia National laboratory Dr.Khandaker’s aim was always to transfer the technology to Bangladesh to help the people of Bangladesh obtain safe drinking water.
