Javed Muneer Ahmad has been named the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of North South University (NSU), effective July 1st, 2023. The appointment comes after Mr. Ahmad, along with other members, was appointed to the NSU BOT by order of the Chancellor and the Ministry of Education on August 16th, 2022.
Mr. Ahmad, a founding member of NSU, has been an active member of the BOT since his appointment and brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the NSU’s leadership team. During NSU’s pioneering and foundational period prior to 1992 and after, Mr. Ahmad played a crucial role in the formation and initial setup of the first private university in Bangladesh.
With his return to NSU, Mr. Ahmad assumes the role of Chairman and member of the Board of Trustees, allowing him to build upon his previous contributions and help implement the original vision of excellence set forth by NSU’s founder, VC and pioneer of private universities in Bangladesh, Mr. Muslehuddin Ahmad.
Upon his unanimous election as Chairman, Mr. Ahmad expressed his gratitude and acknowledged the honor and responsibility that comes with representing the students, parents, faculty, and management of NSU. He emphasized his commitment to following in the footsteps of his father, Mr. Muslehuddin Ahmad.
Looking to the future, Mr. Ahmad eagerly anticipates collaborating with his colleagues at NSU and throughout the education industry in Bangladesh. He firmly believes that as Bangladesh strives towards middle-income status, a globally acclaimed tertiary education system is essential, necessitating a collaboration between public and private universities. Mr. Ahmad highlighted the importance of university boards adhering to core principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability through mutual respect, as he assumes his new role as Chair of the Board of Trustees.
Mr. Javed Ahmad, the Founder Managing Director of Aprosoft Consulting and Training Corp. Ltd., brings over 35 years of experience in the IT industry to his position. He has developed enterprise solutions for leading companies such as Fidelity Investments, EMC (now a Dell Company), Texas Instruments, and Keane (now NTT Data).
After completing his Electrical Engineering degree from Brown University, Mr. Ahmad embarked on his career as an Engineer before transitioning to the rapidly growing US-based software industry in 1990. In 2006, he established Aprosoft’s highly successful Bangladesh office, offering global-class software development services to North American and EU customers.
In addition to his extensive IT background, Mr. Ahmad has served on the boards of federally regulated non-profit organizations in the USA for over 25 years. He is deeply committed to engaging in socially impactful and transformative work.
