A lecture titled ‘Russia in the Indo-Pacific Region: Challenges and Opportunities’ was held at the Syndicate Hall, North South University (NSU) on Sunday.
The event was organised by NSU’s Centre for Peace Studies (CPS) of the South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG), says a press release.
Dr Alexey Kupriyanov, head of the Centre for the Indo-Pacific Region at IMEMO RAS, highlighted the multifaceted role of Russia in the Indo-Pacific region and spoke about the challenges and opportunities associated with its engagement.
During his lecture, Dr Kupriyanov discussed about the historical context that has shaped Russia’s presence in the Indo-Pacific, highlighting key geopolitical factors and strategic considerations.
He also discussed Russia’s evolving relationships with regional powers, such as China and India, and explored the extent of Russia’s economic, military, and diplomatic involvement in the region.
