NSU Aiding students during Pandemic

“NSU is freaking expensive” – I know this is a common notion, but the fact is, if you are really deserving, NSU will bear your study cost and Yes! entirely. Students, who are intending to take admission at NSU but are faltering back thinking about high expense; and also, for those of you who are at present NSU students and yet worried about your educational expenses, here goes your chance to relieve yourself or just make you feel at ease about academic expenses at NSU. NSU is the first and only university that actually has a formal body of assisting the student. Financial Assistance Committee of NSU having a standing commitment to meet the need of eligible students.

The Financial Aid Office (FAO) started its operation since 1993. The key categories include: Financial aid for the children of freedom fighters (Quota based financial waiver), financial aid based on admission test results (Merit Scholarship), based on high academic achievement at NSU (NSU Merit Based), based on financial needs (On Humanitarian grounds), based on teaching assistantship and student employment at NSU (Work study based) & some are based partly on merit and need (Merit Need Based). The students who consider themselves a deserving candidate should apply, and based on their qualification, merit and need -they will be awarded with financial waiver accordingly.

The role of NSU in the eve of this pandemic is unprecedented and unparallel. NSU has already sanctioned financial grant of approximately Tk. 140 Crore as financial assistance since the inception of this pandemic (Summer’20 to Fall’21) besides its regular financial aid to the student. 89 students, who lost their parents due to COVID-19, have been entertained with financial support; 264 other victims of the COVID-19 situation were also granted tuition waiver on humanitarian ground.

Since inception of the Private University Act 2010, NSU has granted freedom fighters’ quota to 1398 children of freedom fighters to study under full free studentships. This year 2021 (Spring, Summer & Fall), a total number of 4241 students have been granted full/partial financial aid facilities.

In the way to help needy and meritorious students and for the socioeconomic development of the country, NSU has disbursed a significant amount of Tk. 289 crore (approximately) as financial assistance since inception Spring 1993 to Fall 2021 semester. This brings our glory, this is our pride, this is the vanity of NSU, the first and top-ranking university in Bangladesh according to QS World University Ranking
