The first private university and the number one ranked private university of Bangladesh, North South University (NSU) has announced the commencement of a scholarship program for 10 Bhutanese students, said a press release.
This announcement comes as a part of a gesture of celebrating 50 years of friendship between Bangladesh and Bhutan. Honorable Ambassador of Bhutan in Bangladesh, H. E. Mr. RinchenKuentsyl, inaugurated the program during a visit to NSU campus on Wednesday.
The Bhutanese Ambassador’s visit along with his delegation team, Former Chairman and Member of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Benajir Ahmed, Vice Chancellor Professor Atiqul Islam and other senior officials from both sides was present. A lively discussion took place during the Bangladesh-Bhutan Friendship Scholarship Announcement Ceremony.
Mr. Benajir Ahmed mentioned the friendship between Bangladesh and Bhutan on this occasion. He said, Bhutan was the first country to recognize Bangladesh as an independent state, and has been supporting our country ever since. Both the countries have been working towards developing the financial and social infrastructure for the people of this region. Bangladesh always considers Bhutan as a dear friend and that offers during rainy days. It is sincerely hoped that this friendship will stay strong and the mutual support will continue.
North South University has been working with Bhutan regarding this scholarship for a long time. This program will be finally be able to see the light of the day from the beginning of 2022. It should also be mentioned that, same kind of scholarship facilities were provided to Bhutanese students back in 2015 by NSU. This one will continue as the second phase of the initial arrangement.
Bhutan is associated very closely to Bangladesh in the education sector. A significant number of Bhutanese students comes to Bangladesh every year to receive education from both public and private universities, especially in Medical Education.
