NSU celebrates Boshonto, Pitha Utshob

North South University (NSU) marked the advent of Bengali Spring as it hosted the ‘Pitha Utshob and Boshonto’ 1430, a celebration brimming with cultural performances and sweet delicacies of pitha, a press release said on Thursday.

Organized by NSU’s Shangskritik Shangathan (NSUSS), the Bashundhara campus was adorned with charming decorations, homemade festoons, banners, and flyers, setting the scene for a joyful gathering. Students, dressed in bright colors and holding flowers, warmly welcomed Pohela Falgun, the harbinger of spring.

The NSU plaza buzzed with activity, featuring traditional dances, folk melodies, flash mob, and a sumptuous ‘Pitha Utshob’ showcasing a diverse array of sweet, savory, and spicy pithas. Renowned Rabindra Sangeet artist Rezwana Choudhury Bannya delivered an exceptional performance, setting the stage for a vibrant flash mob by the students.

Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of NSU, inaugurated the festivities, emphasizing the importance of preserving Bengali culture amidst a backdrop of evolving times. Pahela Falgun heralds the onset of Spring in the Bengali calendar month of Falgun, symbolizing renewal and vitality, and holds significance as the harbinger of the revered six-season cycle.

Among others, deans of various faculties, heads of departments, faculty members, staff, and students from different departments of the university were also present at the event.
