The NSU Center for Business Research hosted an insightful seminar titled ‘The architecture of equity valuation: 5 models 1 value’, on May 20, presented by Professor Waresul Karim, Department of Accounting and Finance, NSU.
Professor Niaz Ahmed, the Director of NSU Center for Business Research (NSU-CBR), inaugurated the seminar, emphasizing the pivotal role these current and upcoming seminars will play in elevating NSU’s research capabilities and strengthening its publication output. The strategic alignment with recent directives from the Honorable Vice Chancellor and Chair of the Board of Trustees underscored the critical impact of research and publications on NSU’s international ranking and accreditation.
The SBE Research Seminar Series is designed to serve as a cornerstone for scholarly discourse, offering a vital forum where researchers can present their completed papers and receive constructive feedback. Seasoned scholars’ presentations showcase exemplary scholarly practices, while feedback provided to early-career researchers aids in refining their work for international journals and conferences.
The chief guest of the session, Professor Helal Ahammad, the Dean of the School of Business and Economics conveyed that the initiative reflects NSU’s steadfast commitment to fostering a culture of research excellence within its academic community. Professor Ahammad concluded the workshops with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the presenters, organizers, and attendees for making the event a resounding success.
The distinguished presenter Professor Waresul Karim began his academic career as a Finance lecturer at the University of Dhaka and earned his PhD in corporate financial reporting from the University of Leeds. He has taught at several reputable universities, including Victoria University of Wellington and Brunel University. Dr. Karim’s research focuses on corporate governance, accountability, and political governance, with numerous publications in prestigious journals. He is a leading researcher on Bangladeshi elections, with his acclaimed book “Elections Under a Caretaker Government.” Recently, he completed research on the 2008, 2014, and 2018 Bangladeshi elections, presenting his findings to the National Press Club and international agencies.
