Office of Research and the School of Health and Life Sciences of the North South University (NSU) organized a public lecture by Professor Dr. Mizan R. Khan, a press release said Sunday.
He is the deputy director, Bangladesh’s International Centre for Climate Change and Development and director of the Least Developed Countries University Consortium on Climate Change.
Professor Khan addressed the audience of mostly environmental science and management students on the topic of environment and climate change education.
The question at issue for Dr. Khan is whether tertiary institutions of higher education in particular reflect the need of the day to improve ecological literacy of Bangladeshi students.
Recently returned from the 27th Conference of Parties meeting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change held in Egypt, Professor Khan argued for more attention to broad-based coursework on environment and climate change at Bangladesh universities.
