Department of Economics of North South University (NSU) has organized a seminar titled ‘Impact of Community Clinics on Health Outcomes: A Natural Experiment in Bangladesh’, a press release said Friday.
Dr. Moogdho Mahzab, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Graduate School of Business and Woods Institute for the Environment, Stanford University, showed that infant mortality rates are significantly lower in areas near community clinics.
Dr. Moogdho Mahzab is a development economist whose research interests include political economy, environment and public health. Following the natural experiment method, he assessed the impact of community clinic presence on child and maternal health in the context of Bangladesh. The study also highlighted changes in political governance.
