NSU holds seminar on life of transgender

North South University (NSU) organized a seminar titled ‘transforming life for transgender’ on 30th July 2022 at Audi 801, a press release said Monday.

The seminar was led and coordinated by Dr. Farzana Nahid, assistant Professor, Marketing and International Business Department, NSU.

A total of 25 Transgender ladies were present who spoke about what they expect from an educational institute like North South University in transforming their lives positively to become a part of the bigger society. These 25 ladies are all educated. 14 among them have finished Masters and the rest have finished with their Diploma. They are interested to continue their studies further, preparing themselves to get a good job and establish themselves as entrepreneurs.

This event was graced by Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Dean, School of Business and Economics, NSU as the chief guest. Professor Dr. Sharif Nurul Ahkam, NSU, and LameaTanjin Tanha, CEO and founder of TransEnd were present as special guests. The other two Speakers were Shanjiboni Shudha, Activist and Banker, and Anindeeta Afra Babuni, Advocacy Officer of TransEnd.

The aim of this event was to generate fresh ideas about what the transgender community needs from an educational institute to transform their lives positively so they can come out of the common activities they do like begging at the signals and brothels into a life where they can establish themselves as candidates for jobs and/or entrepreneurs.
