North South University (NSU) held a special condolence meeting today to pay tribute to Professor Dr. M Emdadul Haq, the esteemed Department of History and Philosophy Chairman, who died on 3rd September from cardiac arrest, a press release said Friday.
Professor Dr. Abdur Rob Khan, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences; Professor Dr. Javed Bari, Dean of the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences; Professor Dr. Hasan Mahmud Reza, Dean of the School of Health and Life Sciences; Professor Dr. SK Tawfique M Haque, Chair of Department of Political Science and Sociology and its Professor Dr. Mahbubur Rahman, and former NSU Professor Dr. Khaliquzzaman Elias from the Department of English shared heartfelt memories of the late Professor Dr. Haq.
The gathering commenced with screening of a documentary chronicling the life and significant works of Prof. Dr. M. Emdadul Haq. Moving testimonials were also shared by Ms. Raisa Afsana, the late Professor’s daughter and Senior Lecturer at NSU’s Department of Economics, and Advocate Zahirul Haque Zahir, Professor Dr. Haque’s brother.
NSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Atiqul Islam, who presided over the function, remarked, “Professor Dr. M. Emdadul Haq embodied excellence in academia and character. His passing is not just a loss to our NSU community but deeply impacts the entire nation.”
During open discussion, faculty and students alike shared their cherished memories of Dr. Haq. A note of gratitude was extended by Professor Dr. Sharifuddin Ahmed, Chairman in charge of NSU’s History and Philosophy department. The event ended with a collective prayer for the salvation of the departed soul.
