NSU hosts discussion on ‘Bangabandhu in Photography: Pavel Rahman’

The Media, Communication and Journalism Program at North South University (NSU) orchestrated a thought-provoking discussion on ‘Bangabandhu in Photography: Pavel Rahman’, a press release said on Sunday. The event was meticulously crafted to delve into the profound connection between Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and pivotal moments in the nation’s history.

The program was graced by the esteemed presence of Chief Guest Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of North South University. The stage was illuminated by Ekushey Padak award-winning photographer Pavel Rahman, who took the center stage as the Keynote Speaker. Rahman’s compelling insights and rich experiences held the audience spellbound.

Under the distinguished presence of Professor Dr. Sk. Tawfique M. Haque, Chair of the Department of Political Science and Sociology; Dr. Md. Towfique E Elahi, Assistant Professor of the Media, Communication and Journalism Program (MCJ); and Dr. S.M Rezwan Ul Alam, Associate Professor of the MCJ program, the discussion program unfolded seamlessly.

Guiding the narrative adeptly, Dr. Tawfiq E Elahi, the discussion’s presenter, skillfully steered the conversation. Meanwhile, Dr. Shariful Islam Imshiat, Assistant Professor of the Media, Communication and Journalism Program, meticulously unveiled the life and artistic journey of Pavel Rahman.

The pinnacle of the event was reached during Pavel Rahman’s poignant reflections on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Rahman unveiled an array of historical photographs that have significantly shaped the nation’s narrative. He ardently shared the narratives behind each image, presenting a distinct viewpoint into the craft of capturing impactful moments. He eloquently depicted the challenges faced by photojournalists, emphasizing the imperative of swift and conscious decision-making in the pursuit of documenting history.
