North South University (NSU) arranged inauguration ceremony of NSU campus radio, tv & digital lab on Thursday, said a press release from the university.
Information minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, MP, waspresent as chief guest and M. A. Kashem, chairman, BoT of NSU was present as special guest at the program. Benajir Ahmed, Yasmin Kamal and Tanveer Harun, Members, BoT, NSU were present as guests of honor. Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor, NSU chaired the session.
The release said that the primary objective of NSU Campus Radio,TV (NSUCRT) & Digital Lab will be to serve the NSU student community within and beyond campus. NSUCRT will be operated within the campus, but the program will be live-streamed and uploaded online. Though NSUCRT will be operated mainly by students, advisory, the managerial and technical team will always be there to oversee the production and airing.
Dr. Hasan Mahmud said,“ we appreciate organizations such as universities that will operate Internet-based TV, which will play a role in expanding education and developing student’s talents. I have high expectations from NSU that, NSU will not only provide world-standard education but also work to make world-standard people.”
Vice-Chancellor, NSU, Professor Atiqul Islamsaid, “We are trying to established Media and Journalism Department at North South University, in fact we have submitted our course curriculum for approval to University Grants Commission (UGC). So, this is a right step in the right direction. During this time, he mentioned the benefits we are enjoying for digitalization of our country and explained how the campus radio and television will help the students of NSU.”
