The North South University (NSU) observed the ‘Sheikh Russel Day’ 2022 by celebrating the 59th birth anniversary of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of our beloved Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a press release said Wednesday.
NSU Earth Club organized a‘Tree Plantation Program’ at NSU Playground. All guests and students paid homage to the ‘Portrait of Sheikh Russel’ at the stage of NSU Plaza. A discussion session was also held to celebrate ‘Sheikh Russel Day’ 2022.
Freedom fighter Lt. Col. Quazi Sajjad Ali Zahir (Retd.) Bir Protik was present at the program as Chief Guest. Professor Dr. Sharif Uddin Ahmed of the Dept. of History & Philosophy was present as the Keynote Speaker. Yasmin Kamal, Member, Board of Trustees, NSU was present as the Guest of Honour. Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of North South University chaired the event. The program was moderated by Jamil Ahmed, TV Presenter & Director – Public Relations Office at NSU.
Sheikh Russel, the youngest brother of Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was born on October 18 in 1964 at the historic Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi. Sheikh Russel was brutally killed on August 15 in 1975 along with most of his family, including his father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
