SJIB PLC awards scholarship to 250 poor students

ShahjalalIslami Bank PLC (SJIB PLC) has awarded scholarship to 250 meritorious poor students who passed the HSC examination in 2022 from different regions of the country, says a press release.

The Cheque of the scholarship was officially handed over through a ceremony organized at the corporate head office of the bank on 23rd December 2023. There were 50 (fifty) scholarship students attended the event and received the scholarship money. The remaining 200 students will receive the scholarship money in their respective bank accounts.Among the 250 scholarship students, there are 125 Male students and 125 female students. A total of Tk. 3,17,50,000.00 (three crore seventeen lac fifty thousand) will be given as scholarship to 250 students who passed the HSC examination in 2022 and are currently studying at honours level in various universities of the country.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank, Mohammed Younus was present as the chief guest at the scholarship award ceremony while The Managing Director & CEO of the Bank Mosleh Uddin Ahmed presided over in the ceremony. Among others the Additional Managing Directors of the Bank S. M. Mainuddin Chowdhury, MianQuamrul Hasan Chowdhury and Md. Akhter Hossain, the Deputy Managing Directors Imtiaz U. Ahmed & Md. Nazimuddoula and the SEVP & Company Secretary of the Bank Md. Abul Bashar were also present in the program. The Head of Public Relations Division & Bank Foundation of the Bank Md. Shamsuddoha (Shimu) moderated the program.

The Managing Director & CEO of the Bank Mr. Mosleh Uddin Ahmed said that this scholarship provided by ShahjalalIslami Bank is not only financial support to the talented students but also motivation, courage and encouragement. The recognition given by the bank to the meritorious students is in recognition of the hard work that the students from the disadvantaged groups of the society have achieved in the past years.
