Unwanted person won’t be allowed to enter polling centre: EC

Election Commission (EC) has directed the returning officers (ROs) to ensure so that no unwanted persons can enter the polling centre during the voting in the coming 12th parliamentary election.

The directive was issued on Sunday through an order signed by EC’s election conducting branch’s deputy secretary Atiur Rahman.

The order says that the EC has formulated a poster containing the list of persons who will be eligible to enter the polling centre and necessary copies of the poster have been printed. Measures have been taken to send the necessary copies of the printed poster to each constituency.

It further says that the presiding officers will have to be directed to display the poster at the important entry points of the centre and at open spaces before the start of voting on the election day. They will have to ensure so that none, except eligible persons, can enter the polling centres. No unwanted persons should be allowed to enter the voting centre in any way. The presiding officers will also have to be directed to supervise and control the overall situation of the polling centre during the voting.
