Dhaka Community Hospital Trust celebrates Victory Day

The Dhaka Community Hospital Trust has celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Victory Day through a three-day programme. As in the previous years, a heroic freedom fighter was accorded  an honorary crest.

Besides, discussions, essay and recitation competitions, and cultural programs  were organized at the event.

Principal Dr. Saria Tasnim presided over the function organized by Dhaka Community Medical College, an undertaking of DCH Trust, on Wednesday (December 15). Prof. Dr. Mahmudur Rahman attended the programme as chief guest.

Marking the day, the crest of honor of DCH Trust was given to the heroic freedom fighter Dr. M. A. Mobin, one of the founders of Field Hospital “Bangladesh Hospital” at Melaghar, India. The filed hospital provided medical services to war-wounded freedom fighters on the battlefield in 1971. Dr MA Mobinis currently working as a Poly Trauma Consultant Surgeon at Queen Mother Hospital in the UK.

In his address Dr. Mobin described his experience of the Liberation War. He remained in India with the permission of the Bangladesh Government for the establishment of the hospital and Dr. Zafrullah returned to London to raise money for the independence movement with the help of the Government of Bangladesh.

Dr. Mobin recounts how he set up a field hospital for war-wounded freedom fighters at Melaghor in India. Many medical students and  youths spontaneously joined the hospital  providing services as volunteers. The hospital serves as a field hospital in Sector 2 and many war wounded freedom fighters were given treatment there. Khaled Musharraf came to this hospital as a splinter-wounded patient and Dr. Mobin treated him.
