Ex-Jubo Dal president among 10 jailed for 3 years

Jubo Dal former president Saiful Alam Nirob and nine other BNP men have been jailed for three years under two separate section in a sabotage case filed in 2013.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan pronounced the judgement on Monday in presence of the two accused.

Other convicts are Dhaka city former councilor Anwaruzzaman, Lutfor Rahman, Shahin alias Gandu Shahin, Torikul Islam alias Jhantu, Aminul Islam Jakir, Golam Kibria Shimul, Billal Hossain, Shahidul Islam and Jakir Hossain.

They were sentenced to jail six months under one section and two and a half years jail in another.

The court also issued an arrest warrant against the fugitive eight.

According to the case statement, taxi driver Babul was going to Karwan Bazar from Mohakhali carrying three passenger at night of March 26, 2013. When the vehicle reached Karwan Bazar’s Wasa Bhaban, miscreants set fire to the vehicle pouring petrol on it.

Later, Babul filed a case with Tejgaon Police Station.
