SCSCCR sends letter to UN to protect Palestinian children

Bangladesh Supreme Court Special Committee on Child Rights (SCSCCR) has sent a letter to the United Nations Secretary General Ant›nio Guterres, urging him to take effective steps to provide protection to children in Gaza, Palestine.

SCSCCR president Justice M Enayetur Rahim sent the letter on January 15 through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as per the direction and authorization of Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan, a Supreme Court release said.

The letter said the SCSCCR is gravely concerned by the clear violation of Article 38 (1) and (4) of UNCRC and other international laws in the conflict zone of Gaza, Palestine.It requested the UN secretary general to take necessary steps quickly to apply the appropriate international measures, provide necessary humanitarian assistance for the children in Gaza, initiate effective diplomatic intervention for establishing peace and stop all kinds of violence against children.

Headed by Appellate Division Justice M Enayetur Rahim, members of the Supreme Court Special Committee on Child Rights are- High Court Justice Naima Haider, Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif, Justice Md. Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Ahmed Choudhury.
