Two agents jailed for using mobile phones at Barguna-1

Two polling agents have sentenced to one year in jail in the Burirchar union of Barguna-1 (Sadar) constituency for using mobile phones.

The two persons — Mokhlesur Rahman, agent of the Mango symbol, and Monir, an agent of the Truck symbol.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Harun-or-Rashid sentenced the agents for entering the Hazarbigha Government Primary School polling centre with their devices at around 12pm.

Earlier, a mobile court sentenced a man Sabet Hossain, 28, who was caught red handed at a polling centre in Barguna Sadar upazila, to six months in jail for casting fake votes in Barguna-1 seat at around 10am on Sunday.

Abdus Salam, presiding officer of Porirkhal Secondary School polling centre said Judge Abu Saleh Md Arman Bhuiyan passed the order.
