19th death anniversary of advocate Badiul Alam Thursday

Well known freedom fighter, politician, and advocate Badiul Alam’s 19th death anniversary is Thursday.

He was born in Fatehnagar village in the Chandonaish thana to the Sikder family in 1926. He did his undergraduate degree from Calcutta University in 1946 and followed it up with a LLB from Dhaka University. During the Liberation War in Chittagong he was an Awami League Regional President and also later took on the responsibility of the Socialist Party Chittagong South Division President. After the Liberation War in 1972 he became Vice President of the Lawyer’s Association and in 1981 became the President of the Association. He was briefly a teacher at the Bangabandhu Law Temple.  His juniors at chambers have all attained much success including practicing at the Supreme Court and are all senior lawyers.

He was also on the committees for the “Bangladesh Red Crescent Society”, “The National Cancer Prevention Society”, “The Muslim Education Society”, “Chittagong society”, Potia College Organizing Society and spearheaded his entire life the activities of Kodom Mubarak Muslim Orphans Feeding. Aside from these in his own village, he helped set up the Fatehnagar Sharifunessa Nazir Uddin Girls High School, a primary school, a madrasa and a knowledge center library.

To commemorate the occasion `Advocate Badiul Alam Memorial Foundation’ will organize a milad mahfil at Chandonaish.
