2 killed over land dispute in Sarail

Two people were murdered over a dispute centring a homestead in Bishutara village of Sarail upazila in Brahmanbaria on Tuesday morning.

The victims are Azad Mia, 55, and Amanat Mia, 60. Later, police detained four people in this connection.
According to police and family members of the deceased, there had been a dispute over a homestead for a long time between Azad Mia and his nephew Insan Mia. Due to the previous enmity, Insan Mia and his aides attacked Azad Mia when he was opening his shop in the morning and hacked him to death with
sharp local weapons.

After that, Azad Miah's supporters attacked Amanat Miah, an aide of Insan Mia, and hit him with a local weapon called Ballam, leaving him seriously injured. Later local people rushed Amanat Mia to Brahmanbaria General Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Officer-in-charge of Sarail police station Md Rafiqul Islam said police were sent to the spot after receiving the information. Legal steps were being taken, he added. The bodies of the deceased are kept in the hospital morgue.
