26 Umrah performers express gratitude to Bashundhara MD

Twenty six persons have returned home after performing Umrah in Saudi Arabia with financial support of Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

Umrah returnees have expressed deep gratitude to Sayem Sobhan Anvir, also Chief Adviser to the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Musalli Committee, for extending financial supports and materialising their longstanding dreams.

Staying at Mecca and Medina for 14 days, they reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka by G-9510 flight of Air Arabia at 10:40pm on Sunday. 

Talking to press, Khandakar Abdul Gaffar, a Umrah performer, said “I sell tupi and atar at Baitul Mukarram market and earn a little. I could not afford Umrah for insolvency. Finally, my dream has come true due to Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir. My gratitude to him knows no bounds.”

Echoing view of his predecessor, Shafikul Hasan, a resident of Chawkbazar and Umrah performer, said he works at a showroom and could not go to Saudi Arabia for the purpose in the past.

 “Allah has materialised my dream with the financial assistance of Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir. I prayed for him offering prayers at Kaba Sharif.”

Similar view was expressed by Zainal Abedin from Bakerganj of Barishal and other Umrah performers who have just returned home.

Gulzar Ahmed, senior vice-president of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Musalli Committee, received the Umrah returnees at the airport.

Earlier, Chief Adviser to the Musalli Committee Sayem Sobhan Anvir hosted an iftar party for 50,000 devotees and announced to send 100 persons for Umrah.

Sending 26 people was in line with the commitment of Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir, he said.

Gulzar said “Two more groups of devotee will leave Dhaka for Saudi Arabia within December while others will go in the first week of January taking a total of 104 persons.”

The first group of 26 persons flew to KSA on December 4, he said adding that special prayer session was arranged in the national mosque marking the pilgrims.

Later, the pilgrims called on Bashundhara Group Managing Director, BAJUS President and Musalli Committee Chief Adviser Sayem Sobhan Anvir. Committee’s general secretary Mizanur Rahman Manik was also present. The pilgrims went to the airport by transport of the Bashundhara Group.
