28 sacks of money were found in the donation box of Pagla Mosque

After opening the donation box of the historic Pagla Mosque in Kishoreganj, 28 sacks of Tk were found. These donation boxes were opened after 3 months and 27 days.

On Saturday (August 17) around eight o’clock in the morning, 9 iron donation boxes kept in the mosque courtyard were opened.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Russell Sheikh and senior officials of the local army camp were present during the opening of the donation box. First, after opening the iron chests kept on the ground floor, the received money is filled in 28 sacks and then taken to the second floor for sorting and counting, the sacks are opened and all the money is poured on the floor.

The administrative officer of Pagla mosque, brave freedom fighter Shaukat Uddin Bhuiyan, said that the work of collecting and counting the money has already started. The officials and employees of the mosque committee, the staff of Rupali Bank and the students of Nurul Qur’an Hafizia Madrasa adjacent to the mosque are participating in this work.

The counting of money is going on under the supervision of Additional District Magistrate and Convener of Don Box Opening Committee Kazi Mahua Mumtaz and in the presence of Executive Magistrate, Army personnel, Police and Ansar forces.

Earlier, the donation boxes were opened on April 20. At that time, a record 7 crore 78 lakh 67 thousand 537 taka was found in 27 sacks. Apart from this, many foreign coins and gold ornaments were found. Monster boxes are usually opened every three to four months.

The Pagla mosque is established on about four acres of land on the banks of Narsunda river in Harua area of ​​the district town. In Pagla Pagla Mosque, which is more than two hundred years old, many devout Muslims from different parts of the country come to donate and pay their vows every day. Apart from this, people bring cows, goats, poultry etc. every day. They were sold and deposited in the fund of the mosque. People of other religions also come to this mosque for their faith and make vows.
