3,200 farmers receive free seeds in Bajitpur

The government has distributed free hybrid Boro paddy seeds among 3,200 small and marginal farmers of Bajitpur upazila in Kishoreganj during Rabi season of 2024-25 fiscal to boost the Boro rice production.

Bajitpur Upazila Executive Officer Farashid Bin Enam inaugurated the distribution programme in front of the Directorate of Agricultural Extension office on Bajitpur Upazila Parishad premises at 11:00 am on Saturday.

According to the sources at the agriculture office, each of the 3,200 farmers from 11 unions and one municipality of the upazila has received two kilogrammes of hybrid Boro paddy seeds.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Ashraful Alam, Deputy Assistant Plant Protection Officer Md Mostafizur Rahman and sub-assistant agricultural officers of various unions of Bajitpur were present at the programme.

Before that the upazila agriculture office, 1,370 farmers from 11 unions of Bajitpur upazila and Bajitpur municipality area have been provided with chemical fertilizer and the seeds of wheat, corn, mustard, sunflower, peanut, onion, and different varieties of lentil free of cost to increase the production during the Rabi season.
