Forty women and two children who were trafficked to India have been repatriated to the country yesterday.
The 42 trafficked people were handed over to the Benapole immigration police by the Petropol immigration police of India.
Victims said they had gone to India by the traffickers for better life crossing the frontier. But the traffickers abandoned them in India. At one stage Indian police held them and sent them to jail.
Officer-in-Charge of Benapole Immigration Police Kamruzzaman said the women and the two children were handed over to Benapole Port Thana police later.
The victims will be handed over to their family members through three human rights organizations-Justice and Care, Mohila Ainjibi Samity and Rights Jashore.
