Seven mild tremors have been felt in different parts of Sylhet since Saturday morning.
The quakes measured between magnitude 3 to 4.1 were felt about several minutes apart till 2 pm, with the first one occurring at around 10:10 am.
No casualties or damage has been reported.
The first 4 jolts were felt within short intervals in the period of one hour scaring people out to the street.
Muminul Islam, the Senior Meteorologist at the Dhaka Meteorological Department’s Earthquake Observatory, said “We have been confirmed about the quakes from Sylhet station. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Sylhet which has a maximum magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale”.
According to Indian National Center for Seismology, the first quake was recorded at 10:06 am with its epicenter at 48 –kilometer ESE of Cherrapunjee in India’s Meghalaya.
