Two people were killed and five others injured as a microbus ploughed into a roadside fish market at Gobindaganj upazila on Friday night.
The deceased are Haren Chandra Das, 45, and his cousin Pratab Chandra Das, 26, residents of Uttar Dharmapur village of the upazila.
Police said the accident took place around 8pm on the Gaibandha-Nakaihat road when a microbus ploughed into the market and ran over several people as its driver lost control over the steering of the vehicle, leaving seven people critically injured.
The injured were sent to the upazila health complex where the attending doctors declared two persons dead.
Of the injured, three were sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gobindaganj Police Station Shamchul Alam Shah confirmed the matter.
