Three workers were killed and another was injured when a speeding truck ran them over on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
The accident took place at 7:30am on Saturday in Mirsharai, Chittagong.
The deceased are Masud Mia, 35, Alamgir Hossain, 45, and Shafiqul Islam, 42. They were employees of the Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company.
According to locals, two of the workers died on the spot, while another succumbed to death while being rushed to Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex in critical condition.
Another injured worker was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. His identity remains unknown at the time of filing this report.
Joarganj Highway police outpost In-Charge Sohel Sarkar said that their bodies have been kept at the police station.
The truck was seized and brought to the police station, but the driver managed to escape. The bodies will be handed over to the families after the legal process, he added.
