Miscreants set fire to two covered vans on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Dakkhin Salna area of Gazipur City Corporation in the district today.
According to police and fire service, eight to 10 miscreants in a private car and on a motorbike intercepted the two covered vans at Dakkhin Salna area and set those on fire around 6am this morning by pouring petrol on them.
On information, police and two firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control in an hour, Gazipur fire service station officer Abdus Samad said.
No one was injured in the incident, he said.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Gazipur Sadar Police Station, Rafiqul Islam said an investigation is underway to determine who set fire to the two covered vans.
Necessary measures will be taken after investigating the incident, the OC added.
