Under the Farm Machinery and Postharvest Process Engineering Department of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, “Making Crop Production System More Profitable by Innovating Agricultural Machinery and Applied Technology” Funded by Head Project “Adaptive Trial of Bari Invented Agricultural Machinery” was held at Haibatpur, Jessore Sadar on Tuesday morning.
Chief Scientific Officer of Jessore Regional Agricultural Research Institute Dr. Kausar Uddin Ahmed presided over the inauguration ceremony.
Chief Scientific Officer, FMPE Department and Project Director, FMDP, Bari, (Gazipur) Dr. Nurul Amin spoke as the chief guest.
Also present in the adaptive trial were Roknuzzaman, Scientific Officer of Jessore Regional Agricultural Research Center, Shammi Akhter, Scientific Officer, FMPE Department, Bari, Gazipur).
Also present was Suja- ud- Daula, agricultural engineer of the Department of Agricultural Extension.
120 farmers from different unions of Sadar Upazila of Jessore participated in the event. Adaptive trials are conducted on Bari seeding machine, Bari crop harvester, Bari maize thresher, Bari grain thresher, Bari threshing machine, Bari potato planter, Bari potato lifter.
The project director said that the importance of mechanization for the development of agriculture is immense. For this reason, 53 types of agricultural machinery have been invented by the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute. The government has undertaken intensive programs in this regard. Various types of agricultural machinery continue to be supplied in this district through subsidy.
Out of the 15 types of agricultural machinery that are being subsidized by the government, 8 types of Bari-innovated agricultural machinery are also being provided through subsidy.
A program is underway to train skilled drivers and mechanics through training on Bari-invented agricultural machinery. FMDP project is running in 20 upazilas of ten districts across the country.
