Ropa Aman cultivation is continuing in full swing in four districts of the Khulna Agricultural Zone.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) officials said in the current Kharif-2 season of FY 2024, DAE has fixed target to bring a total of 2,99,802 hectares of land under Ropa Aman farming as the production target of clean rice is 8,71,940 metric tonnes.
In the meantime, around 12,633 hectares of land has already been brought under cultivation in four districts in the region.
The four districts include Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, and Narail, said the officials of DAE.
In Khulna, aman was cultivated on a total of 325 hectares of land against the DAE target of 94,810 hectares as there is production target of 2,91,563 metric tonnes of clean rice.
In Bagerhat, 20 hectares of land has brought under cultivation against the fixed target of 73,322 hectares of land with a production target of 1, 85,798 metric tonnes of clean rice.
A total of 4,668 hectares of land came under cultivation in Satkhira district against the DAE target of 88,770 hectares of land with a production target of 2,62,370 tonnes of clean rice.
In Narail, a total of 7,620 hectares of land has been brought under cultivation against the farming target of 42,900 hectares of land with a production target of 1,32,209 tonnes of clean rice.
Earlier, the government distributed high-quality Ropa Aman (Ufshi) seeds and fertilizers worth around Tk 5.34cr as incentives to the farmers including them of cyclone ‘Remal’ affected area in a bid to increase cultivation and production.
Talking to BSS, Acting Additional Director of Khulna DAE Kazi Jahangir Hossain said farming on the fallow land is being monitored and proper advice is given to the farmers with a view to exceeding the target of production of clean rice.
“The weather is favourable now. If the weather remains favourable, we are expecting bumper production”, he added.
