Bangladesh Awami League General Secretary, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader’s house was set on fire and vandalized by the angry crowd. The incident took place in Rajapur village of Ward No. 1 of Basurhat Municipality of Companyganj Upazila of Noakhali on Monday (August 5) evening.
According to local sources, Obaidul Quader’s younger brother Abdul Quader Mirza, mayor of Basurhat Municipality, lives in the house with his family. He is disturbed in many ways. People of various classes and occupations are oppressed by him. People were angry about this. After hearing the news of Sheikh Hasina’s resignation after 2:30 on Monday (August 5), angry people started gathering in Basurhat Bazar.
With time the crowd keeps increasing. In the evening, the angry people took a huge procession and left for Obaidul Quader’s house. On hearing the news, his younger brother Abdul Quader Mirza fled with the family. The angry crowd entered the house and vandalized it. At one point it was set on fire.
