A field visit to study the feasibility of IoT-based precision agriculture for sustainable in crop production Bangladesh was held on Tuesday following a discussion at the FMPE department seminar room at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute.
The project is being implemented by the Department of Irrigation and Water Management, BARI, Gazipur, and Nodis Digital Limited, Dhaka, in coordination with Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council and funded by Agricultural Research Foundation, Bangladesh.
Scientists from different departments/centres of BARI, representatives of BARC and Nodis Digital Limited, Dhaka participated in the event.
BARI director general Debasish Sarker presided over the programme where Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council executive chairman Sheikh Mohammad Bakhtiar was chief guest.
BARI director (service and supply) Ferdousi Islam, director (planning and evaluation) Dilowar Ahmad Chowdhury, Agricultural Research Foundation director (cereals and natural resources) Md Akkas Ali were present as special guests in the event.
Irrigation and Water Management Department chief scientific officer (acting) Sujit Kumar Biswas delivered the address of welcome and BARC member director (livestock) Nazmun Nahar Karim presented the keynote speech on the project activities.
After the discussion, the president, chief guest, special guests and other participants visited the research field, said a press release.
