BNP leader Shahjahan Omar submits nomination on AL ticket

BNP vice-chairman Barrister Muhammad Shahjahan Omar, Bir Uttam, has submitted nomination online to the returning officer on Awami League ticket for Jhalakath-1 (Rajapur-Kathalia) constituency for 12th Jatiya Sangsad election.

Omar in a press conference confirmed the matter of his nomination form submission at his chamber at Karwan Bazar in the capital this afternoon as he also announced his resignation from all positions in Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

The barrister’s chamber lawyers said Omar met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official Ganabhaban residence this afternoon.

Rajapur upazila nirbahi officer and assistant returning officer Farhana Yasmin confirmed the matter to BSS.

Shahjahan Omar was elected member of parliament on BNP ticket in 1979, 1991, 1996 and 2001.

He served as state minister for law and state minister for land during BNP tenure.
