Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF) and the Right to Grow Consortium (RGC) Tuesday demanded allocation of special budget for child nutrition at union parishad level.
The demand was made at a press conference held at the Daily Star’s conference hall in the city.
They said the primary prerequisite for building a self-sufficient nation with advanced talent is to provide proper nutrition and a healthy environment for the children.
Ms. Aroma Dutta, Member of National Parliament and Vice-President of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights, was present as the chief guest, while Shyamol Dutta, General Secretary of Jatiya Press Club and Editor of the Bhorer Kagoj newspaper was present as the special guest.
Imam Mahmud Riyad, President of the Country Steering Committee of RGC and Country Director of Max Foundation, delivered the welcome speech at the press conference. Chairperson of BSAF Md. Mahabubul Haque presided over the event.
Sajal Quraishi, Communication and Documentation Specialist of Max Foundation conducted the programmme, while Safia Sami, Coordinator of BSAF, read out the working paper at the event. The Q&A session was moderated by Iqbal Azad, Country Team Lead of Write To grow.
The RGC and BSAF hoped that all political parties will make a strong commitment to the nation in their electoral manifesto to address the issue of malnutrition of children under five years of age.
