Bus supervisor held in Kalmakanda with smuggled Indian blankets

A bus supervisor named Lokman was detained for his involvement in smuggling Indian blankets in a raid conducted by the army in Kalmakanda upazila, on Saturday aroundnoon.

Lokman, the son of the late Abdul Jabbar from Maisganga village, was caught with seven smuggled Indian blankets during a search of a Dhaka-bound “Pahari Travels” bus in Babni area.

The operation was carried out by a team from the Kalmakanda army camp, acting on a tip-off regarding illegal cross-border trade. Lokman confessed to his role in the smuggling network, admitting that he had been transporting the blankets from Kalmakanda to Dhaka.

The blankets were seized, and Lokman was arrested and handed over to the Kalmakanda police station for further investigation and legal proceedings. The authorities are now looking into the broader smuggling ring involved in the illegal transportation of goods across the border.

This arrest underscores ongoing efforts to curb cross-border smuggling activities in the region.
